College Basketball Prop Bets
Temple Owls at No. 24 Florida Atlantic Owls
Hysier Miller To Make 3+ Threes (+162)
After winning 8 of their last 10 games, Florida Atlantic could be gearing up for another comfortable win as they are favored by 19.5 points against Temple. While FAU will likely carry most of the advantages in this one, targeting a prop for Temple's Hysier Miller could bode success.
Miller leads the Owls with 15.6 points per game (PPG) and 176 three-point attempts on the season. Despite his underwhelming 25.6% three-point percentage, Miller still consistently makes threes thanks to his large shooting volume. In fact, Temple's lead guard has made at least three three-pointers in three of his last six games.
I like Miller to reach at least three three-pointers due to Florida Atlantic's susceptible perimeter defense. The Owls rank 75th in KenPom's adjusted defensive efficiency and are in the bottom 44% in three-point attempts allowed per contest. Additionally, all of FAU's backcourt has Defensive Bayesian Performance Ratings (DBPR) of 1.53 or less, per EvanMiya.
Minnesota Golden Gophers at No. 2 Purdue Boilermakers
Braden Smith Over 26.5 Total Points + Rebounds + Assists (-120)
According to EvanMiya, Purdue's Braden Smith is the fifth-most valuable player in the nation. He's been one of the country's best guards and is a stat-sheet stuffer with 12.7 PPG, 5.6 rebounds per game (RPG), and 7.1 assists per game (APG). I expect Smith to stuff the stat sheet once again, going over 26.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists.
Smith has pulled off this feat in five straight games. Per KenPom, Minnesota is the fifth-worst Big Ten team. This should present Smith with another opportunity to excel.
First off, the Boilermakers should thrive on offense thanks to the Golden Gophers sitting in the bottom 4% in two-point attempts allowed per game while Purdue is in the 84th percentile of two-point percentage. Smith should have plenty of assist opportunities as he ranks second in the Big Ten with a 37.4% assist percentage.
Minnesota also ranks outside the top 100 in offensive and defensive rebounding percentages. Smith ranks second on the team with a 15.9% defensive rebounding percentage. The Gophers' starting backcourt of Elijah Hawkins and Mike Mitchell both have DBPRs of under 1.05, as well; this should also allow Smith to rack up a solid scoring total.
Zach Edey Over 12.5 Rebounds (-128)
Sticking with the Minnesota-Purdue matchup, Zach Edey -- who FanDuel Sportsbook's Wooden Award odds have at -3000 to win the award --seems poised to dominate the glass.
As previously mentioned, the Golden Gophers sit outside the top 100 in major rebounding categories. Meanwhile, the Boilermakers are in the 94th percentile of both offensive and defensive rebounding percentage. Edey averages 11.7 RPG -- the third-best mark in the nation -- and leads the Big Ten with a 17.5% offensive rebounding percentage and ranks second in the conference with a 25.2% defensive rebounding percentage.
Of course, we should also account for Edey's 7-foot-4 frame, which often makes him nearly unstoppable. Minnesota lacks the size to deal with Edey as their starting frontcourt of Dawson Garcia (6-foot-11) and Pharrel Payne (6-foot-9) could struggle.
Edey already has a rebounding advantage with the Gophers' weak numbers, and he could tower over Minnesota's frontcourt. Give me Edey to reach at least 13 rebounds -- he's done it in three straight games.
