We're now in the home stretch of one of the strangest college football seasons in recent memory. The on-going covid-19 pandemic has caused cancellations and postponements all throughout the regular season, but that hasn't stopped players from delivering some special performances this year.
And the Heisman race seems to be coming down to two standout quarterbacks from the SEC, according to odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook.
2020 Heisman Odds
Alabama's Mac Jones is currently favored to win the award, boasting -135 odds. But Florida's Kyle Trask is hot on his trail (+110). Statistically, the two are pretty much dead-even as well.
Jones is completing 75.7% of his passes for 3,113 yards with 27 touchdowns to 3 INTs, boasting a passer rating of 210.8. Trask, meanwhile, is completing 71.4% of his passes for 3,243 yards with 38 TDs to 3 INTs and a passer rating of 193.1. Jones has a slight edge in terms of efficiency, but Trask's raw production is tough to ignore.
Still, No. 1-ranked Alabama's 9-0 record could give Jones the edge over Trask's No. 6-ranked, 8-1 Gators.
There's a pretty steep decline after that top two, with Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence both checking in at +2000. Fields and Lawrence are essentially out of this race through no fault of their own, as Lawrence has missed time due to COVID, playing just eight games, while Fields' Ohio State Buckeyes have played only five games.
Devonta Smith (+3000) and Ian Book (+6000) round out the rest of the top six.
While these odds will surely continue to change as we head into the final stretch of the year, it looks like this has become a two-man race between Jones and Trask.
