3 More Players the Saints Will Cut to Get Under the Cap
By Larry Rupp

One of the biggest storylines of the NFL offseason is the tough cap space situation that the New Orleans Saints are currently stuck in. They have already had to make some difficult cuts including veteran wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and cornerback Janoris Jenkins.
However, it doesn't look like the cuts will stop anytime soon as the Saints still have a lot of work to do if they want to be able to fix their current situation. With that being said, here are three more players that the Saints will cut to get under the NFL cap.
1. Malcolm Brown, Defensive Tackle
Defensive Tackle Malcolm Brown could easily become another one of the Saints cap casualty cuts this offseason. They are currently in talks to trade the 27-year-old, but could be forced to cut him in order to save about $5 million against the cap. He is entering the final year of his three-year contract and has been a solid defensive player for the team racking up at least 27 tackles and 1 sack in each of the last two seasons. Although, his role was diminished in 2020 as one of the Saints' deepest parts of the roster is the defensive line.
2. Latavius Murray, Running Back
The Saints are obviously locked in on starting running back Alvin Kamara. They also recently re-signed Dwayne Washington to provide depth in the backfield an on special teams. This could all be bad news for backup running back Latavius Murray. While Murray has been a reliable option for New Orleans in the running game (656 yards last season), cutting the veteran ball carrier would save the team $2.5 million in cap space. That may not seem like a lot, but the Saints need to save money in any way they can. Cutting Murray is a real possibility if the Saints cannot find a trade partner for him.
3. Patrick Robinson, Cornerback
Cornerback Patrick Robinson has been a mainstay on the Saints defense for the last three seasons, but could be a veteran player cut due to cap space issues. This move would save New Orleans $2.6 million in cap space and allow some of the younger players like Grant Haley and Keith Washington Jr. to play more meaningful snaps. Robinson had 2 interceptions last season, but does not fit into the future for the Saints as he is going to be 33 years old heading into next season. New Orleans needs to cut costs somehow and saying goodbye to Robinson is a move that makes a lot of sense here.
