With less than one week between now and the long-awaited return of both Big Ten conference play and the Penn State Nittany Lions' 2020 season, PSU faithful have received some tough news about their lead running back Journey Brown.

According to Mark Brennan of 247Sports, Brown could miss the entire 2020 season due to an undisclosed medical condition. Brown was set to be prominently featured in a Penn State offense returning key weapons such as himself, quarterback Sean Clifford and tight end Pat Freiermuth.

Brown was the Nittany Lions' leading rusher last season after amassing 890 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 129 attempts and an impressive 6.8 yards per carry. Clifford actually was the team's second-leading rusher with 402 yards, but Noah Cain followed him as the next RB on this list with 443 yards and eight TDs.

The Nittany Lions kick off their 2020 campaign this Saturday on the road in Bloomington, Indiana, having already opened as 6.5-point road favorites over the Hoosiers, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
