The Michigan Wolverines are 1-1, having just fallen to Michigan State in a game they entered as massive 21.5-point underdogs. Disappointment has become the norm for Michigan football recently, having never beaten Ohio State in Jim Harbaugh's tenure, and ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum points to one main culprit: Harbaugh.

Finebaum doesn't say Michigan needs to fire Harbaugh, but he does think they shouldn't bring him back when his contract is up.

Finebaum doesn't pull any punches here, opening with the fact that he is, "bored of criticizing Jim Harbaugh, because it's become so easy."

The 2021 season is the last on Harbaugh's contract with the Wolverines, and Finebaum thinks Harbaugh should test the waters at the NFL level at that point.

Harbaugh's Wolverines have finished four consecutive seasons with worse AP rankings at the end of the season than they had in the preseason, also losing in four straight bowl games.

Harbaugh didn't exactly inherit the job at the easiest time, as Michigan had just gone 5-7 under Brady Hoke before he took over, but it's starting to look like Harbaugh is not the long-term answer they need in Ann Arbor.
