The 2022 MLB season has come to a conclusion, meaning front offices around the league are now going to start shifting attention to offseason free agents. 131 players were officially declared as free agents on Sunday, including one Cleveland Guardian pro that made a crucial impact this past season.

Many of the teams around baseball are dealing with at least a handful of free agents, and while the Guardians have just one, he's an important member of the team.

Starting catcher Austin Hedges is headed for free agency after his one-year contract with the Guardians expired. Hedges joined the franchise 2020 via a trade and re-upped on a one-year deal in 2022.

The veteran backstop struggled at the platge by slashing .163/.241/.248 in 105 games, but was an important veteran presence on a roster that largely overachieved throughout their run to the ALDS.

Cleveland's core is in place. The front office will look to make a couple of tweaks, but the franchise enters the offseason with +4000 odds to win the 2023 World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
