Evan Mobley extended his lead as the NBA Rookie of the Year award favorite over the New Year. The Cavaliers prized rookie returned from the NBA’s health and safety protocols and scored at least 21 points in three of four games to raise his scoring average to 14.7 points per game.

Mobley (-110) leads Scottie Barnes (+360) and Cade Cunningham (+450) in Rookie of the Year odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. Just four other players are in the ROY race nearing the halfway point of the season, but Mobley will be tough to overtake if he remains healthy.

The Cavaliers star tops all rookies in shot blocks with 1.7 per game and rebounding with 8.2 per contest. His versatility has been most impressive and his strength on the defensive end is exceptional. Mobley should continue to improve and feel more comfortable, and his game and confidence should only rise with the Cavaliers recent trade for PG Rajon Rondo.

Franz Wagner has taken over as the rookie scoring leader at 15.9 points per game. Barnes (15.4) is second and Cunningham is third in scoring and leads all rookies in steals. Mobley tops all rookies in rebounding with 8.2 per game followed by Barnes (8.1) and Josh Giddy (7.3), who leads all rookies in assists with 6.4 per game.
