One of the first sports organizations to get back up and running this spring, the UFC has had a quick turnaround following an exciting UFC 249 card. They already returned with one fight card, UFC on ESPN: Smith vs Teixeira, on Wednesday, and they're back again on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 172, headlined by Alistair Overeem vs Walt Harris.
The Duel's fantasy picks for Wednesday's card were on point, going three for three with winners, including two fighters scoring 100-plus fantasy points. With that in mind, let's check out the top fantasy picks for Saturday.
UFC Fantasy Picks – Fight Night Overeem vs Harris
Mike Davis (vs Giga Chikadze)
This fight should be loaded with fantasy scoring, and really you could feel pretty good about including either one in your lineup (especially considering Giga Chikadze's low salary). Davis has one of the highest ceilings on the card, however. He's a big -220 favorite on FanDuel Sportsbook, seven of his eight career wins have come by KO/TKO, and he landed a ridiculous 139 significant strikes in his last fight.
Edson Barboza (vs Dan Ige)
Edson Barboza will have a big size advantage in this fight as he moves down from Lightweight. A four-inch edge in both height and reach is very valuable, especially for a striker of Barboza's caliber. He dropped each of his last two fights, but Dan Ige is a big step down in competition from his recent opponents, and we've seen Barboza tear through mid-level competition in the past. Barboza has scored 65 percent of his pro wins (including each of his last two) by finish, and he should score big if he gets back in the win column here.
Angela Hill (vs. Claudia Gadelha)
You're always going to need some underdogs in your lineup to stay under the salary cap, and Angela Hill could be an interesting one. She's only a +164 underdog on FanDuel Sportsbook, but her salary is among the lowest for all fighters this week. Hill is certainly a risky play, as she's facing a dominant grappler in Claudia Gadelha, but her 72 percent takedown defense rate does inspire some confidence and she hasn't been taken down more than one time in a single fight in any of her last nine. She's also a high-volume striker, averaging 5.74 significant strikes landed per minute over her UFC career, so if she pulls off an upset it should come with plenty of fantasy points.
