Mets News: New York Gets Good Update on Jonathan Villar Injury

Amidst all of the injury struggles that the Mets have endured in 2021, New York finally got a bit of good news on Wednesday afternoon. The Mets announced that third baseman Jonathan Villar was listed as "day-to-day" on Tuesday after struggling with calf tightness earlier this week.
Naturally, New York followed up with an MRI and Mets insider Anthony DiComo reported that Villar's MRI came back as fully clean.
Mets infielder Jonathan Villar (right calf soreness) had a clean MRI and could come off the bench tonight, but he's not starting tonight.

Catcher Tomás Nido also received a clean MRI on his wrist but has "some limitations," per Luis Rojas.
Mets Injury Update
This is definitely the type of good injury news the Mets and their fanbase have been hoping for. Villar will take things slow and remain on the bench for Wednesday night's game, but he should be available if needed.
The 30-year-old third baseman has already spent some time on the shelf this season with a hamstring injury in the same leg. Thankfully, the Mets should get their scrappy infielder back in the lineup in no time. On the year, Villar is slashing .246/.333/.410 on the season with 29 runs scored, 6 home runs and 15 RBIs.
The Mets remain in first place in the NL East with their 37-31 overall record. Currently, New York owns the best odds to win the division (-330) and the top odds amongst NL East teams to win the World Series (+850), on FanDuel Sportsbook.
