The Detroit Lions and Matthew Stafford rocked the NFL media landscape last week, as it was announced the two had mutually agreed to part ways. With Stafford still under contract until 2023, Detroit is opting to put the 31-year-old on the trading block.

Obviously, a player of Stafford's caliber is going to drive a lot of interest on the trade market. But even the most ardent Stafford defenders may be a bit surprised to see just how many suitors are reportedly pursuing the Georgia product.

Matthew Stafford Trade Rumors

According to Ian Rapoport, the Lions are receiving a ton of calls about the franchise QB, with about "a third of the league" inquiring about Stafford. That works out to somewhere between 9-10 teams, which is wild. Especially considering Deshaun Watson also appears to be on the block this offseason.

It also opens up the possibility that Stafford lands somewhere we're not expecting. FanDuel Sportsbook provided odds that listed the Indianapolis Colts (+300) as the favorites to land the former No. 1 overall pick, with the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers tied for second at +350.

But now that a third of the league is reportedly involved in the Stafford sweepstakes to some degree, all bets are off.

Buckle up for what's shaping up to be a wild 2021 offseason.
