Jaguars Get Concerning Travis Etienne Injury Update

Jacksonville Jaguars fans went through a major injury scare on Monday night when rookie running back Travis Etienne was spotted on crutches after the team's preseason matchup with the New Orleans Saints.
Those fears were confirmed with some devastating news from NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Rapoport confirmed that Etienne suffered a Lisfranc injury and will undergo further tests on Tuesday.
#Jaguars RB Travis Etienne, spotted on crutches after the game, suffered a Lisfranc iniury and will have further tests today, source said. X-Rays were negative so the belief is it’s just a sprain. Exams today will determine how long he’s out.

Travis Etienne Injury Update
It's unclear how long Etienne could be sidelined and more will be revealed following the follow-up tests today. While the initial negatives did come back negative, Jacksonville should be worried given the potential severity of Lisfranc injuries.
Some of the most notable players to recently suffer Lisfranc injuries include New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton. The three-time Pro Bowler suffered a Lisfranc sprain in 2019, an injury that lingered and in-part helped end his Carolina Panthers career.
According to medical reports, NFL players who suffer Lisfranc sprains but avoid surgery still miss an average of close to six months of action.
This could be a potentially crushing blow to Jacksonville, who selected Etienne with the 25th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
