The Atlanta Falcons' wide receiver room has been lacking this offseason after Calvin Ridley was suspended for the 2022 NFL season and Russell Gage left to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers via free agency.

The good news is that the Falcons finally brought continuity to their WR room by re-signing Olamide Zaccheaus to a one-year deal on Tuesday. Before the signing was official, Frank Darby was the only wideout on Atlanta's roster that caught a pass in 2021.

An undrafted free agent in 2019, Zaccheaus' role and statistics with the Falcons have improved with each passing season.

The 24-year-old WR started in a career-high eight of the 17 games he played last season, finishing with new personal bests in receptions (31), yards (406) and touchdowns (three). His best game of the year came against the New Orleans Saints in Week 9 when he finished with 58 receiving yards and a pair of TDs on three catches.

Unless the Falcons make any more additions through free agency or the 2022 NFL Draft, Zaccheaus pencils in as their No. 1 WR. Although he's shown flashes of potential, they'll need to add more talent at the position if they hope to be competitive next season.

Even then, the Falcons have a lot of work to do before the rest of the league takes them seriously again. FanDuel Sportsbook is projecting them to miss next year's playoffs at -1000 odds.
