The Denver Broncos made a franchise-altering move this offseason, bringing in Russell Wilson via trade from the Seattle Seahawks. But it doesn't appear that running back Melvin Gordon will be a part of the new-look team, as the 28-year-old remains a free agent.

Here are the three best remaining free-agent destinations for Gordon heading into the 2022 season.

Melvin Gordon Free Agency 2022

3. Houston Texans

If Melvin Gordon is looking for a true feature-back role, the Houston Texans are probably his best bet. Rex Burkhead and Marlon Mack would be his only real competition for work in Houston, and it's not hard to envision Gordon earning the lion's share of the work. Houston also has $20 million in available cap space, so it wouldn't be too tough to work out a deal here.

2. Cincinnati Bengals

Running back isn't exactly the Cincinnati Bengals' most pressing need, but Gordon would be an excellent complement to Joe Mixon. He'd also be a big-time upgrade over backup Samaje Perine. With over $18 million in remaining cap space, Cincinnati should have no problem bringing Gordon in, and the promise of playing for a contender could be enticing to the 28-year-old.

1. Los Angeles Chargers

Returning to the Los Angeles Chargers would bring Gordon's career full circle. He spent his first five years in the league with the team, but his return would be a win-win for both sides. Gordon would be an excellent change-of-pace for Austin Ekeler, and LA could use an upgrade at backup RB. Plus, the chance of joining a contender and getting a little revenge on the Broncos twice a year could be enough to bring Gordon back to the Chargers.
