Austin Ekeler Roasts New Chargers' Head Coach Brandon Staley
Los Angeles Chargers fans should be ecstatic about their new head coach Brandon Staley. The Los Angeles Rams were the league's 17th-best scoring defense in 2019, surrendering 22.8 points per game (PPG).
Despite bringing back more-or-less the same roster this season, the Rams were the NFL's best scoring defense in 2020, giving up 18.5 PPG in Staley's first year with the job. That's a pretty insane leap.
But hilariously, it wasn't enough to impress star Chargers' back Austin Ekeler, who admitted he didn't really know anything about Staley when the hiring was announced.
Thankfully, it appears the two hopped on the phone, allowing Ekeler to get to know his new head coach a bit more.
Taking over what's quietly one of the more talented defenses in the league, Staley has a chance to establish himself as a truly elite defensive coach this season. Hopefully he can do enough to finally get Ekeler to notice him.
