Guardians vs Rays Best Bets and Picks Today (Game 6)
Rays Moneyline (-148)
Moneyline
The Cleveland Guardians‘ pitching situation is the biggest reason to back the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 6.
The Guardians have not announced a traditional starter, and they may opt for some combination of Slade Cecconi, Joey Cantillo and Tanner Bibee before manager Stephen Vogt tries to bridge the game to relievers Erik Sabrowski, Hunter Gaddis, Tim Herrin and Cade Smith. The problem is that Cleveland just had to lean heavily on its relief corps in Game 5 after Parker Messick lasted only two innings, and Vogt even used Smith while trailing in an effort to keep the game within reach.
That creates a stark contrast with Tampa Bay, which can hand the ball to Freddy Peralta. Peralta threw six scoreless innings with six strikeouts against Cleveland in Game 2, allowing only four hits and two walks. His two-out relief appearance in Game 4 functioned essentially as a high-intensity between-starts bullpen session, so the veteran RHP should be capable of handling a normal starting workload tonight.
With Cleveland piecing the game together on the mound and Tampa Bay able to start a hott arm at home, I like the Rays to get the win tonight.
Freddy Peralta Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+130)
Freddy Peralta - Strikeouts
At plus money, Peralta’s strikeout prop is my favorite player bet.
He averaged 4.9 strikeouts per appearance during the regular season and already cleared this number against Cleveland in Game 2, punching out six over six scoreless innings.
The underlying performance in that outing was encouraging, as well. Peralta generated 15 whiffs and leaned heavily on a fastball that Cleveland simply couldn't square up. He then showed premium velocity during his brief Game 4 relief stint, averaging 97.5 MPH with his four-seamer and touching 99.1.
The biggest concern is workload after that relief appearance, but Tampa Bay treated it as a replacement for his normal side session rather than an outing that should compromise his Game 6 start. If Peralta gets through five frames, five strikeouts is an attainable number, making these +130 odds attractive.
MLB Betting Frequently Asked Questions
What are MLB player prop bets?
MLB player prop bets are wagers on specific statistical outcomes tied to individual players during a game — not on which team wins or loses. You might bet on how many strikeouts a starting pitcher records, whether a shortstop gets a hit, or how many total bases an outfielder accumulates.
Because they are isolated to a single player's performance, props let you apply focused knowledge about matchups, recent form, and ballpark conditions rather than predicting the full game result.
What types of MLB player props are available?
FanDuel offers a wide menu of MLB props. The most common categories include:
- Pitcher strikeouts
- Batter hits
- Home runs
- Total bases
- RBIs
- Stolen bases
- Pitcher outs recorded
How do MLB player prop bet odds work?
MLB prop odds use the standard American (moneyline) format. A negative number shows how much you must wager to profit $100. A positive number shows how much a $100 bet returns in profit.
- -110 odds — bet $110 to win $100
- +130 odds — bet $100 to win $130
- -200 odds — bet $200 to win $100
What does "total bases" mean as a prop bet?
The total bases prop counts the bases a batter earns from hits in a single game:
- Single = 1 base
- Double = 2 bases
- Triple = 3 bases
- Home run = 4 bases
Walks, hit-by-pitches, and stolen bases do not count. A typical total bases line is set at 1.5 or 2.5. Betting over 1.5 means you need at least a double, or two singles.
