Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Jake Guentzel To Score a Goal (+180)

The Carolina Hurricanes are looking to pick up a win to force Game 7 against the New York Rangers.

With their backs against the wall, the Canes will look to get out to an early lead and extend their season for one more game. Offense has been the calling card for Carolina in recent seasons and they need that to shine through tonight.

Jake Guentzel is simply built for the playoffs. I don't like to be hyperbolic but there is really no other way to put it. Guentzel has 58 points in 58 career playoff games, with 34 of those points being goals.

He simply shows up when it matters most and it's because of his role and his offensive mindset. Guentzel skates on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, which has allowed him to be a shoot-first player.

With 27 shots on goal in the playoffs, Guentzel has the second-most on the Hurricanes -- a clear indication he's a goal-scoring forward.

Brock Boeser Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-113)

A back-and-forth series between the Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks is destined to go seven games.

With the teams trading wins, the Canucks will look to defend home ice in Game 5. That means getting the offense going tonight.

The overall offensive pressure for the Canucks hasn't been great this series, as the Oilers hold the Total Shot Attempt advantage 269-186, and total shots on goal 124-82.

The Canucks simply need to do more on offense if they want to keep things even in the series, which leads me to Brock Boeser.

The first-line winger comes in with a team-high 25 shots on goal in their 10 playoff games, having gone over this prop in three of his last five.
