NHL Predictions Today: Player Props, Best Bets

Golden Knights Moneyline (-115)

Vegas is the better side of the matchup going by the underlying numbers. The Golden Knights rank ahead of Boston in expected-goal share, expected goals for per 60 minutes and expected goals against per 60 minutes at five-on-five.

Goaltending is another reason to side with Vegas. Jeremy Swayman has lost three of his last four starts while posting an .870 save percentage and 3.23 goals-against average during that stretch while Carter Hart has allowed two or fewer goals in four of his last six starts.

I like the Golden Knights as a small favorite to win outright in Boston.

Joel Farabee Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+162)

Flames at Sharks — 9:00 p.m. ET

For the player prop, I'm going to the Flames and targeting Joel Farabee over 2.5 shots on goal at +162.

Farabee has been shooting the puck at a higher rate this season and is averaging more than a point per game through the early portion of the season.

San Jose is an appealing opponent for this market because the Sharks have allowed opponents to generate plenty of offensive-zone opportunities.

Farabee's combination of top-six usage and shooting volume gives him a good path to three shots, and +162 provides enough upside to make this my favorite player prop bet on Monday.

NHL Betting -- Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Puck Line in NHL Betting?

The puck line is hockey's version of a point spread. The standard puck line is usually set at 1.5 goals, meaning a team listed at -1.5 must win by at least two goals for the bet to cash. A team at +1.5 can either win outright or lose by one goal.

What Does the Moneyline Mean in NHL Betting?

A moneyline bet is a wager on which team will win the game. Favorites have negative odds, while underdogs have positive odds. Unlike the puck line, the margin of victory does not matter.

What Are NHL Player Props?

NHL player props allow bettors to wager on an individual player's performance rather than the final result of the game. Common markets include goals, assists, points, shots on goal, and goalie saves.

What Should You Consider When Betting on NHL Games?

Several factors can influence NHL betting decisions, including starting goaltenders, injuries, recent team performance, special-teams play, expected line combinations, and whether a team is playing on consecutive nights. Because goalie confirmations can significantly impact a matchup, it can be useful to check the latest lineup news before placing a bet.
