MLB Same Game Parlay Bets for Thursday 5/16/24

New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies

Alec Bohm to Record 2+ Total Bases (+100)
Brandon Nimmo to Record a Hit (-250)
First 5 Innings Alternate Total Runs: Over 2.5 (-420)

Combined Odds: +222

Alec Bohm and the Philadelphia Phillies have a favorable matchup against Jose Quintana and the New York Mets on Thursday. Against left-handed pitching this season, Bohm is sporting a .431 wOBA, .222 ISO, 181 wRC+, and a minuscule 11.7% strikeout rate.

Over his last 25 games, Bohm has at least one hit in 23 of them, totaling 11 multi-hit outings and 17 extra-base hits in that span. Given his success versus southpaws, it's worth noting that Bohm has +680 odds to hit a home run for Thursday's Mets-Phillies showdown.

As for Quintana, he has given up six-plus hits and four-plus earned runs in back-to-back starts. The veteran lefty is also in the fourth percentile in xERA (6.12) and 13th percentile in hard-hit rate (46.0%) in his first eight appearances on the mound.

Brandon Nimmo doesn't have a much worse matchup with Taijuan Walker slated to start for the Phillies. Although Walker has made just three starts, he is in the sixth percentile in xERA (5.89) and first percentile in barrel rate (19.6%) while allowing eight-plus hits in two of his three starts.

Along with taking Bohm and Nimmo to have success versus the starters in Thursday's matchup, we'll take over 2.5 runs to be scored in the first five innings. There have been three-plus runs tallied in two of the first three games of the current four-game series between New York and Philadelphia.

Oakland Athletics at Houston Astros

Kyle Tucker to Record 2+ Total Bases (-105)
Jose Altuve to Record a Run (-160)

Combined Odds: +200

Kyle Tucker has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball as of late, and there's no reason to stray away from taking his two-plus bases prop again on Thursday. Even though the Houston Astros have disappointed thus far, Tucker has achieved multiple bases in eight of his last nine contests, logging three doubles and five homers in the process.

Joey Estes is the projected starter for the Oakland Athletics, giving the Astros a positive matchup at home. In his lone start of the season, Estes permitted a 58.3% fly-ball rate, 58.3% hard-hit rate, and 25.0% barrel rate despite logging a five-strikeout win over the Seattle Mariners.

When going up against right-handed pitching this season, Tucker is registering a .420 wOBA, .302 ISO, and 177 wRC+. With Tucker swinging a hot bat and Estes giving up plenty of hard contact in his season debut, Tucker has +350 odds to hit a home run.

Besides placing confidence in Tucker to continue his recent success at the plate, we'll take Jose Altuve to record a run. Altuve has been consistently batting directly in front of Tucker versus right-handed pitchers, so there's a chance we can knock out this SGP on one swing of the bat.

Aside from having the second-most runs (28) on the Astros, Altuve has crossed the plate in three of his last five games. Being that Estes is on the bump, it's worth mentioning that Altuve is posting a .403 wOBA, .385 OBP, .211 ISO, and 165 wRC+ versus right-handed pitching in 2024.

Cincinnati Reds at Los Angeles Dodgers

Mookie Betts to Record 2+ Total Bases (-110)
Shohei Ohtani to Record a Hit (-230)
Los Angeles Dodgers Over 4.5 Total Runs (-136)

Combined Odds: +259

Brent Suter of the Cincinnati Reds will be the next pitcher tasked with trying to contain the daunting lineup of the Los Angeles Dodgers in his first start of the season. Throughout his 17 appearances out of the bullpen this year, Suter is in the 36th percentile in xERA (4.27) and 41st percentile in barrel rate (7.9%) with a career-worst 42.7% fly-ball rate.

Additionally, Suter hasn't gone longer than 3.1 innings in a game this season, so it remains to be seen how long he pitches on Thursday. Regardless of how long Suter pitches, Mookie Betts has a positive matchup against a left-hander out of the leadoff spot.

Even though Betts has just a .169 ISO versus southpaws thus far, he does have a .428 wOBA, .538 SLG, and 182 wRC+ in that split to begin the campaign. Betts has multiple hits in four consecutive outings -- including three extra-base hits -- which has him sitting at +370 odds to hit a home run on Thursday.

Another talented bat to target in this SGP despite facing same-handed pitching is Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani has two-plus hits in three straight games, and he has a .365 wOBA and 139 wRC+ when taking on left-handed pitchers to begin the year.

With Los Angeles expected to take on a usual reliever to begin Thursday's contest, we'll back them to score five-plus runs. The Dodgers have notched five-plus runs in eight of their 13 games in May.
