MLB Prop Bets: MLB Props for Today

Cal Quantrill Under 15.5 Outs Recorded (-114)

Rays vs. Rangers, 8:05 p.m. ET

Cal Quantrill has delivered a 3.01 ERA for the Texas Rangers. I’m not really buying it.

Quantrill’s xFIP is 4.43, and he’s allowed a 42.8% fly-ball rate. A .252 BABIP, which is well below his career .287 BABIP, is doing some heavy lifting for him, and he has a tough matchup today against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Rays are 10th in wOBA over the last 30 days (.321) and seventh in wOBA for the campaign (.322).

Quantrill has worked at least six frames in three straight starts, but I think he’ll struggle today versus the Rays.

Kade Anderson Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-118)

A’s vs. Mariners, 9:40 p.m. ET

Through two starts in the big leagues, Kade Anderson hasn’t really cooked yet. It’s coming, though, and this is my favorite prop bet of the night.

Anderson was unquestionably the top pitching prospect in baseball before he got called up. He blowtorched Double-A to the tune of a 1.06 ERA and 40.5% K rate through 93.1 innings.

Over his first 10 MLB frames, Anderson has recorded an 11.4% swinging-strike rate, so he’s missing a good amount of bats despite racking up only eight total punchouts. The Seattle Mariners let him throw 81 and 85 pitches in his two starts.

I love this matchup for him. Not only is he at pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park, he’s facing an A’s squad that ranks dead last in road wOBA this year (.292) with the seventh-highest K rate in the split (23.8%).

I like Anderson’s chances to get deep into this one, and he could pop for his first big strikeout performance.

Tommy Edman to Record 2+ H/R/RBI (-130)

Cardinals vs. Dodgers, 10:10 p.m. ET

Tommy Edman usually hits in a meaty spot in the Los Angeles Dodgers‘ lineup against lefties, and they’ll do battle with LHP Quinn Mathews tonight.

It’s hard to see how this goes well for Mathews outside of the batted-ball gods working in his favor. Mathews has surrendered 11 earned runs over his first 19.2 MLB innings. While he showed some solid swing-and-miss stuff in the minors, he also gave up 1.18 homers per nine at Triple-A this year and is now tasked with taking on LA’s loaded offense.

Edman hit second the last time the Dodgers saw a southpaw, slotted behind Shohei Ohtani and right before Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts. That’s a great spot to be for RBI and run-scoring chances.

With LA listed at -122 odds to go over 4.5 runs, Edman is an appealing target in the H/R/RBI market.
