Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to Record 2+ Total Bases (+105)

Royals vs. Blue Jays, 7:08 p.m. ET

A lot has been made about Vladimir Guerrero Jr.‘s poor season. While the results have been poor, the underlying numbers aren’t horrible, and I like these plus-money odds on Vladdy to tally two-plus bases today in a date with lefty Noah Cameron.

Guerrero’s .333 expected wOBA looks more serviceable than his .305 actual wOBA. His 5.4% homer-to-fly-ball rate — well off his career 16.4% clip — has been a meaningful factor in his ugly power output (7 HRs). Aside from some bad luck, he’s still productive against lefties, registering a .338 wOBA and 40.0% hard-hit rate in the split.

Cameron is a pretty good pitcher, but him being a lefty helps Vladdy’s outlook. Plus, once Cameron departs, he’ll hand it over to a Kansas City Royals bullpen that is dead last in second-half reliever xFIP (4.99).

Dodgers at Braves NRFI (-160)

Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs. Chris Sale — 7:15 p.m. ET

This is easily my favorite NRFI matchup on Thursday’s slate.

Yamamoto carries a 2.61 ERA into the matchup and has allowed only nine runs across his past six starts. He’s also averaging 6.59 innings per start this season, so consistently working deep into games is another indication of how rarely opponents are getting to him early.

Sale has been even better statistically, posting a 2.20 ERA with 166 strikeouts and only 28 walks across 135 innings. He has surrendered just eight home runs all season, and he’s coming off consecutive starts in which he issued zero walks.

With two legitimate Cy Young-caliber pitchers on the mound, this is the cleanest NRFI setup of the day even though both of these offenses have plenty of pop.

Jung Hoo Lee to Record 2+ Total Bases (+120)

Diamondbacks vs. Giants, 9:46 p.m. ET

Rookie RHP Jose Cabrera is expected to start for the Arizona Diamondbacks, and he’s not having much success early in his MLB career, posting a 5.16 SIERA and 5.60 ERA through his first 17.2 innings.

Jung Hoo Lee has a career-best .327 wOBA, and his plate appearances usually end with a ball in play as he’s got a 10.0% K rate and 4.1% walk rate. That’s good for this market as walks don’t help us. Lee is at his best with the platoon advantage, mashing his way to a .340 wOBA versus righties.

Facing a struggling pitcher and with the wheels to cash this in one swing, Lee can notch two-plus bases tonight.
