Verdict

CROWN LEGEND (3) returned from a spell last start over 6f at Gilgandra and caught the eye late, getting up for second and making up around five lengths from the time they straightened. Has a terrible draw to contend with so probably goes back again but over the extra ½f can finish right over the top. TRIPLE TRIPLE (5) led all the way to salute over this distance at Taree two back. Took on a tougher race over 6f at Gosford last time and found that beyond him. Better placed back up to 6 ½f in the country so watch for a return to form. QUICK SHARP (4) started favourite and got the job done by the barest margin at her latest run over 1½f at Armidale. Consistent mare who is on trial at this trip. Each-way the best option. The lightly raced AFRICAN DIAMOND (8) has been freshened up since just missing over 7 ¼f at Muswellbrook on 28 November. Goes well when fresh so she is right in contention. PICKAXE (2) is one for the exotics first-up from a four-month break.
