FanDuel Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks and Helper: Wednesday 3/27/24

Since NBA DFS is easier to predict than baseball or football, it would likely get plenty of votes as the best sport to play on FanDuel. Basketball players usually stick to the same minutes and produce at roughly the same rate. Sounds easy, right? Trust me -- it's not!

As a result, NBA daily fantasy is highly reliant on a player's opportunity, so you'll need to ensure that you're up to date with key injuries. Our projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- update throughout the day to reflect current news. You can also turn to numberFire for player news updates as well as a matchup heat map and lineup optimizer to help give you an edge.

On top of all that, here at FanDuel Research, we'll come at you each day with this NBA DFS primer, which breaks down some of the day's top plays at each position.

Let's dive into today's main slate on FanDuel.

Guards

Top Plays

Tyrese Haliburton ($9,400) -- Tyrese Haliburton kinda, maybe, might have his jumper back? After shooting just 21.3% from three in his first 13 games after the All-Start break, Haliburton has gone 13-for-26 over the last four games. He's averaging 47.5 FanDuel points per game (FPPG) over that stretch, flashing the slate-breaking upside we saw in the first half of the year. Considering Indiana-Chicago has the slate's highest over/under (235.0) and tightest spread (Pacers -3.0), it's easy to get behind Haliburton.

Josh Giddey ($6,600) -- Speaking of jump shots being back, Josh Giddey has gone 9-for-14 from three the last two games after shooting 30.6% the 16 games prior. That's coincided with 41.8 and 38.8-FP outings, both of which came against above-average defenses. Houston is another tough matchup, though they've notably jumped to fifth in pace since Alperen Sengun went down. Aiding Giddey's case is Oklahoma City's slate-best 119.25 implied total.

Miles McBride ($5,900) -- Here's a stat that doesn't seem real in the year 2024: Miles McBride is averaging 45.3 minutes over the last four games. Never change Tom Thibodeau! He's posted 31.1 FPPG in that stretch and appears locked into New York's starting five with OG Anunoby out. With Toronto dipping to 25th in defensive rating since the All-Star break, numberFire projects McBride for 30.8 FPs. That makes him the fourth-best point-per-dollar value on the slate (5.22 FPs per $1,000).

Others to Consider

Anthony Edwards ($9,900) -- With 10 games to choose from, I'm leaning toward more of a balanced build tonight. Still, it's hard to not consider Anthony Edwards against Detroit. Ant has averaged 50.9 FPPG since Karl-Anthony Towns went down, contributing 42.1 combined points, rebounds, and assists. Against Detroit's 26th-rated defense, Edwards' points + rebounds + assist prop is set at 40.5 on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Scotty Pippen ($5,700) -- Memphis' injury report is still a mess, but Scotty Pippen Jr. is healthy and remains productive when active. That puts him in a nice spot to take advantage of a struggling Lakers squad that just played a double-overtime game last night. Per FantasyPros, LA has surrendered the most FPPG to PGs over the last 15 games, and they're down to 25th in defensive rating over that span. Pippen's a quality game stack for LeBron-based builds.

Wings

Top Plays

LeBron James ($10,100) -- I can see LeBron James slipping through the cracks a bit on a 10-game slate, especially after he sat during last night's double OT thriller against Milwaukee. That would be a mistake. A fresh LeBron should get all the work he can handle against a Memphis D that's surrendered the sixth-most FPPG to SFs on the year. Having previously dropped 32 real-world points and 59.5 FanDuel points against the Grizzlies back in January, LeBron is my favorite play on the slate.

Josh Hart ($7,800) -- Josh Hart still feels under-salaried even as he approaches $8K. After an 11-point, 14-rebound, 10-assists outing on Monday, the do-it-all forward now has four triple-doubles this month. A 6.1-FP outing against Denver three games back reminds us that Hart isn't matchup-proof, but there's not much to worry about against the injury-plagued Raptors. Hart to record a triple-double is +750 on FanDuel Sportsbook, while his points + rebounds + assist prop is set at 31.5.

Bogdan Bogdanovic ($6,600) -- Bogdan Bogdanovic is a strong mid-range play regardless of Dejounte Murray's status, but he'd become perhaps the slate's top value if Murray -- who is questionable -- sat out. Bogdanovic's fantasy production fluctuates, but he's coming off a 32.3-FP outing against Boston and has notably shot much better at home (45.0%) than on the road (39.9%). That said, the appeal here today is all about the matchup. The Blazers have given up the fourth-most FPPG to SFs over the last 15 games, and they're down to 24th in defensive rating over that stretch. His 34.8-FP numberFire projection makes him the third-best point-per-dollar value on the slate (5.28 FPs per $1,000).

Others to Consider

DeMar DeRozan ($8,600) -- Points should be plentiful in tonight's Pacers-Bulls clash, so we can certainly consider DeMar DeRozan. The vet has scored 28 and 27 actual points the last two games, exceeding 49 FPs in both. DeMar exploded for 46 actual points and 68.3 FanDuel points the last time he faced Indiana. The Pacers' defense has surrendered the second-most FPPG to PFs on the year. There's no denying DeRozan's upside in this one.

De'Andre Hunter ($5,900) -- After spearheading Atlanta's comeback W over Boston on Monday night, De'Andre Hunter is well-positioned to stay hot against the Trail Blazers. Hunter managed just 11 real-world points and 18.7 FanDuel points when the Hawks visited Portland earlier this month, but he's bounced back with 20 real-world points in four of the last six games.

Bigs

Top Plays

Pascal Siakam ($8,500) -- Pascal Siakam has been on an absolute tear across the last eight games, averaging 24.9 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 45.9 FPPG. Among those was a 42.3-FP outing against Chicago, so I'm bullish he produces against them again tonight. The Bulls have been an above-average matchup for PFs all year, and they're notably down to 27th in defensive rating since the All-Star break. Siakam's points + rebounds prop is set at 31.5 on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Myles Turner ($7,000) -- Myles Turner has owned the Bulls of late. In his last six matchups with Chicago, Turner is averaging 21.7 actual and 36.9 FPPG. He's exceeded 37 FanDuel points in all three meetings versus the Bulls this season, and while I'd typically advise against rostering two bigs on the same team, that's something we can get away with when Indiana has a 118.75 implied total. Turner's a rock-solid mid-range option, regardless of whether you're loading up on this matchup.

Bruno Fernando ($4,800) -- Based on early roster projections from across the industry, Bruno Fernando is going to be a staple in a lot of lineups tonight. It's hard to argue with the crowd. Fernando has an extremely friendly salary, is eligible at both big spots, and faces a Charmin ultra-soft Blazers interior. With a 24.3-FP projection, Fernando is numberFire's third-best point-per-dollar value among bigs (5.06 FPs per $1,000).

Others to Consider

Chet Holmgren ($8,100) -- I want shares of OKC's offense tonight, and Chet Holmgren fits the bill. The Rockets have surrendered the seventh-most points in the paint since Alperen Sengun went down, and while they've still given up the seventh-fewest FPPG to Cs over that span, the competition has been lacking. We saw Nikola Vucevic drop 43.8 FPs on them three games back, so Chet should be able to take advantage of the Thunder's slate-leading implied total.

Jock Landale ($5,800) -- Jock Landale popped for 33.8 FPs in a spot-start for the suspended Jabari Smith on Monday. He's likely return to the bench tonight but has exceeded 30 FPs in three of his last six games in that role. The Thunder have quietly allowed the seventh-most FPPG to Cs over the last 15 games, dipping to 19th in rebound rate over that span.
