MLB DFS Picks

Pitchers to Target

Cole Ragans ($10,600)

Cole Ragans and the Kansas City Royals are looking to even out their series against the Oakland Athletics on the road tonight, and Ragans should have a lot to do with their bid to do just that.

Ragans owns a 4-4 record with a 3.14 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP across 86.0 innings pitched. The lefty's pristine ERA is supported by great underlying data, including a 3.29 xERA and a 3.21 SIERA.

Oakland has the fifth-highest strikeout rate (24.7%) against lefties of any team in the majors. Ragans' 29.1% strikeout rate should parlay into fantasy points as a result. He has a 33.3% strikeout rate in four games against high-K teams.

Freddy Peralta ($9,500)

Freddy Peralta also throws late, as he's on the West Coast against the Los Angeles Angels.

The Milwaukee Brewers' righty is burdened with a 4.38 ERA despite a 4.01 xERA and a 3.39 xFIP.

The Angels' splits against right-handed pitching aren't anything particularly special. They have a 93 wRC+ and a .302 wOBA, both 21st in the MLB.

Peralta is projected for 33.1 FanDuel points tonight, via numberFire, a top-four mark on the board and is within shouting distance of the most projected K's of the night (6.75) to go along with a 6.5 strikeout prop (with -125 odds on the over).

Stacks to Target

Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers' bats set up against lefty Tyler Anderson, a pitcher due for regression.

Anderson's 2.58 ERA over 87.1 innings looks great and is a top-10 rate among qualified pitchers. He also happens to be top-10 in ERA versus expected ERA, thanks to an xERA of 4.66.

That xERA ranks just a bit outside the top 10 on the year (294th, to be exact).

Milwaukee isn't the most dominant team against lefties (92 wRC+) but can throw a lot of righties at the top of the order and still have league-average fly-ball and hard-hit rate numbers in the split.

Joey Ortiz ($2,900), William Contreras ($3,500), Willy Adames ($3,300), Rhys Hoskins ($2,800), and Gary Sanchez ($2,600) come at reasonable salaries and should be in the top six alongside lefty Christian Yelich ($4,000).

Only the Los Angeles Dodgers -- in Coors Field -- have a higher implied team total (6.01) than the Brewers (4.65) tonight, via numberFire's DFS heat map.

New York Mets

Speaking of lefty splits, let's look at the New York Mets, who face southpawAndrew Heaney and his 4.19 ERA and 4.50 xERA.

Heaney is letting up a 44.7% fly-ball rate this season and plenty of hard contact.

The Mets can throw out the switch-hitting Francisco Lindor ($3,500) along with righties J.D. Martinez ($3,400), Pete Alonso ($3,300), Starling Marte ($3,200), and Mark Vientos ($2,900) in the top six.

Lefty Brandon Nimmo ($3,000) still frequents the lineup even in this split, but last time they faced a lefty, righty Harrison Bader ($2,800) hit second.

Overall, the Mets are top-six in wRC+ (119) and wOBA (.331) against lefties.
