Outwardly, the Falcons have expressed confidence in Ridder. He will need to prove them right to remain under center beyond this season. A win against the first pick in this year's draft would be an excellent start.

    • The Falcons passed on a quarterback with the seventh pick, but they did select the first running back in this year's draft. Robinson is as exciting a prospect at the position as the league has seen in a very long time. Robinson is expected to be an impact player for Atlanta right away, and his journey starts with a Week 1 divisional showdown with Carolina.

    • After years of uncertainty and poor play at the quarterback position, the Panthers traded for the first overall pick in this year's draft and used it to select Bryce Young. The Panthers have hinted that Young still needs to win the starting job from Andy Dalton, but the expectation is that he will be under center come Week 1. As is the case with any first-overall pick, the pressure will be on Young to perform right away. A division win over the Falcons would be an excellent way to announce yourself to the league.
