The 2024 Belmont Stakes is ready to kick off on Saturday, June 8 at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, NY. The stakes race has a post time of 6:41 p.m. p.m. ET.

While there is no opportunity for a Triple Crown this year at Belmont, plenty of familiar horses and jockeys will be riding in the Test of the Champion.

Belmont Stakes Weather

The weather in Saratoga Springs on Friday, June 7th, is currently expected to be around 78 degrees (F) and partly cloudy, with a low of 53 degrees. There will likely be scattering thundershowers through the day.

As for race day, overcast is expected throughout Saturday with on-and-off rain showers.

Considering the weather can change by the hour, we can assume that the Belmont Stakes contenders will be running in muddy conditions at the Saratoga Race Course.

Notable Belmont Stakes Horse Performance in Muddy Conditions

The 2024 Preakness Stakes was run in muddy conditions, and Seize the Grey prevailed. He also finished third in the mud at the 2023 Skidmore Stakes last August.

Mystik Dan was narrowly edged out in the mud at the Preakness, and he also has a win in muddy conditions at the Southwest Stakes in February at Oaklawn Park.

Another notable race in muddy conditions for this year’s field was the Remsen Stakes (G2) back in early December. Dornoch won that race at Aqueduct — with Sierra Leone finishing runner-up.
