NFL DFS Week 2: Best Stud Picks
Christian McCaffrey, RB, 49ers
FanDuel Salary: $9,000 (vs. MIA)
Christian McCaffrey remains one of the highest-upside players on the slate because of his ability to produce through both the rushing and receiving games.
He totaled 88 yards on just 15 touches in Week 1, rushing for 68 yards on 10 carries while adding five receptions on eight targets.
The receiving workload is particularly encouraging for DFS purposes, and his Week 2 matchup with the Miami Dolphins is an attractive one after the Dolphins allowed the second-most rushing yards per game in the NFL last season.
Nico Collins, WR, Houston Texans
FanDuel Salary: $7,800 (vs. CIN)
Nico Collins is an appealing high-salary DFS play for Week 2 after seeing 10 targets in the Houston Texans‘ season opener. Collins turned that volume into seven receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown against the Buffalo Bills, finishing with 14.2 FanDuel fantasy points.
He now gets a Cincinnati Bengals defense that allowed 233.8 passing yards per game last season, and our Week 2 projections have Collins at 97.31 receiving yards with a 0.48 touchdown projection.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Seattle Seahawks
FanDuel Salary: $9,000 (at ARI)
Jaxon Smith-Njigba enters Week 2 with arguably one of the strongest volume-based cases among the slate's high-salary wide receivers.
He dominated the Seattle Seahawks‘ passing game in Week 1, catching eight of 11 targets for 122 yards and a touchdown while commanding a massive 41.7% target share.
In Week 2, he’ll see an Arizona Cardinals defense that ranked 24th in passing yards allowed last season at 230.8 per game, and JSN is capable of a big day regardless of whether it’s Sam Darnold or Drew Lock under center.
NFL DFS Studs FAQ
What is an NFL DFS stud?
An NFL DFS stud is a high-salary player who is expected to produce a strong fantasy score in a daily fantasy football contest. These players typically have significant workloads, high ceilings and favorable opportunities to accumulate fantasy points.
How do you choose the best NFL DFS studs?
The best DFS studs are identified by looking at factors such as expected volume, recent production, matchup, touchdown potential and projected roster percentage.
Who are the best NFL DFS plays each week?
The best NFL DFS plays change from week to week based on matchups, injuries, salaries, projected draft percentage and expected usage. High-volume quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers are often among the strongest options at the top of the salary range.
What is a good DFS lineup strategy?
A strong NFL DFS lineup typically combines a few high-upside players with lower-salary options who have favorable matchups or increased workloads while also hitting on a player or two who does well but isn’t popular that week. Finding players who can significantly outperform their salaries is one of the most important parts of building a winning lineup.
