Vita Vea Reveals Secret Behind Quick Recovery From Injury

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defense received a big blow in Week 5 when defensive tackle Vita Vea suffered a fractured ankle that put his season in jeopardy. Vea didn't suit up in any of the Bucs' remaining regular season games while recovering from the injury, but he was able to return in the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers.
Vea revealed the secret behind his recovery, which included an assist from teammate Ndamukong Suh.
Vita Vea credits @NdamukongSuh for connecting him to his personal chef so that he could stay on a healthy diet as he recovered from his fractured ankle, and then he weight trained six days a week. He said that's what allowed him to come back and play as effectively as he did.

It turns out that Suh's personal chef hooked Vea up with a healthy diet plan that helped him stay on track during rehab. Nutrition is key for any professional athlete, and especially so during recovery from an injury, so it's hard to say if Vea would be playing now if he didn't stay committed to a diet that aided his return.
The Buccaneers' impressive playoff run also helped give Vea the opportunity to suit up in another game this season. The team earned road wins in the Wild Card and Divisional Round before their conference championship appearance.
Now, Vea will get additional time to rest before leading the Buccaneers' defense into a clash with the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV in February. Despite Tampa being a 3-point underdog, a big game from the defensive tackle could help the Bucs close the gap.
