There have been a number of prolific athletes that have tried this feat — Tim Tebow and Michael Jordan among them —and few have been very successful at it. That is: attempting to play both MLB and NFL football professionally.

Well, that's exactly what former Philadelphia Phillies top prospect Dylan Cozens is taking on next. He joins the long list of professional athletes to attempt this feat. Cozens announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he'll be retiring from baseball and will officially pursue his dream of playing in the NFL.

Cozens, a 27-year-old right-fielder, last played organized football in high school. He was a stud defensive end and two-sport athlete in high school, even garnering a football scholarship from the University of Arizona Wildcats. Ultimately, Cozens couldn't pass up getting drafted by the Phillies in the second round of the 2012 MLB Draft.

The 27-year-old former top prospect's MLB career didn't pan out as hoped. He only appeared in 27 games for the Phillies between the 2018 and 2019 seasons and currently found himself in the Milwaukee Brewers minor league system.

Only time will tell if Cozens is able to pull off this special feat. Considering the lack of success at the MLB level, he certainly won't turn into the next Bo Jackson. But, maybe he's better suited for the NFL. After all, Cozens' father Randy was drafted by the Denver Broncos back in 1976.
