Christian McCaffrey was an absolute monster for the Carolina Panthers last season. Garnering over 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards, truly a season for the ages. However, heading into this season, according to a panel of 50 NFL executives, coaches, scouts and players, that still wasn't enough for him to be considered the best running back in football.
That title was awarded to New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley, who had a bit of a down year in his sophomore season, but dealt with a number of injuries and still managed to put up really solid numbers.
Ezekiel Elliott and Derrick Henry also received No. 1 votes alongside Barkley and McCaffrey. Elliott had the biggest difference in best and worst votes, with one person ranking him as low as No. 11.
Alvin Kamara, after a down year himself, was the only member of the top-5 to not receive a first place vote.
While this are where these guys rank now, this list could see a complete shakeup by the end of the 2020 season.
