Ever since the conclusion of the NCAA football season, BYU quarterback Zach Wilson has become the talk of the league (outside of presumed No. 1 overall Trevor Lawrence). Of course, with the Jacksonville Jaguars pretty much guaranteed to select Lawrence, all eyes are on the New York Jets and the No. 2 pick.

FanDuel Sportsbook has had all the 2021 NFL Draft odds this offseason, and the last month or so Wilson's stock has skyrocketed. Just a week ago, the BYU Cougars product had -180 odds to be drafted at No. 2 overall, and now those odds have risen even higher.

NFL Draft No. 2 Overall Pick Odds

Wilson currently has -260 odds to be selected second in this year's draft, ahead of quarterback Justin Fields (+420) and left tackle Penei Sewell (+1000). The closer that we get to April 29th however, it seems likelier and likelier that this pick will be a quarterback.

The Jets might be in the market for a new franchise quarterback (with GM Joe Douglas officially listening to trade offers on Sam Darnold), but even if they keep Darnold, the consensus is that New York will then trade the pick for a king's ransom. A quarterback will almost certainly be drafted a No. 2, the real question is which one, and to whom?

Wilson completed 247 of 346 pass attempts (73.5 completion percentage) for 3,692 yards and 33 touchdowns during his Junior campaign (12 games), with 3 interceptions and 10 additional touchdowns as a runner. Fields on the other hand completed 158 of 225 pass attempts (70.2 completion percentage) for 2,100 yards and 22 touchdowns as a Junior (eight games), with six interceptions and five touchdowns on the ground. To be fair, Ohio State played less games in 2020, and Fields numbers were far better than Wilson's in 2019.

The Wilson-Fields debate will probably go on right up until the commissioner reads the No. 2 overall pick, and even past that as the two compete in the NFL. Will the Jets, or another franchise get it right in this spot? Or will this selection be used on another agonizing bust in a growing list of franchise QB prospects that never quite live up to their potential?
