The Oakland Athletics opened the season ranking a distant second behind the Houston Astros in the odds to win the AL West. The two teams are clearly on different trajectories to start the season, however, and the odds on FanDuel Sportsbook have undergone some serious changes.

The A's haven't just passed the Astros as the favorites to win the division, they now have MLB's fourth-best odds to win the World Series.

The A's climbing the ranks has been a steady process. Last week they leapfrogged the Astros in AL West, earning -155 odds to win the division. They remained behind the Astros in World Series odds at that point, however, with just +2100 odds compared to +1100 for Houston.

As of Wednesday morning, the A's now have +1200 odds to win it all in 2020, trailing only the Los Angeles Dodgers (+380), New York Yankees (+400) and Minnesota Twins (+1000).

The Astros have fallen to sixth, at +1400, while the Atlanta Braves (+1300) round out the top five.

The Athletics are still just 2.5 games up on the Astros for first place in the division, but they already look to have firmly established themselves as the new top dog in the AL West.
