Key Stat Proves Grant Delpit Was Second-Round Steal for Browns

Entering the season, Grant Delpit was viewed as a first-round lock by most analysts. After a slightly down 2019 campaign, though, Delpit's draft stock took a hit and he ultimately fell to the Cleveland Browns in the second round.
But this key stat proves that Delpit might've been one of the biggest steals in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Delpit forced incompletions at a rate of 18.2 percent, according to Pro Football Focus. Notably, that was twice as high as the second-best rate among PFF's top safeties (Ashtyn Davis; 9.1 percent). It's also more than double the figure that Xavier McKinney posted (8.5 percent) and he was the first safety drafted in 2020.
But he's an asset in more than just coverage, though. In fact, according to PFF, Delpit's 42 career run stops are almost double what McKinney did throughout his Alabama career.

It looks like Delpit has a chance to be the best all-around safety in this year's class. The fact that he fell to Cleveland in the second round could be something that Browns fans will celebrate for years to come.
