After Week 1 of the NFL season, New York Jets' slot receiver Jamison Crowder was looking like one of the best values in fantasy football, especially in PPR leagues. He finished the loss to the Buffalo Bills with 14 receptions (on a whopping 17 targets) for 99 yards.

Following the shocking announcement that Sam Darnold would be out indefinitely with mononucleosis, Crowder saw his production plummet in the Jets' subsequent three games, averaging just 2.7 receptions and 25 yards per contest.

With Darnold back in the fold for Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys, Crowder saw his production bounce back, finishing the surprise win with six receptions for 98 yards. While Crowder has yet to score this season, the performance validated the receiver's strong connection with his young quarterback, as Crowder led the team with nine targets. He also finished with a strong 16.3 yards per reception, a far cry from the 7.1-yard mark he posted in Week 1.

Darnold looked great in his first game back from mono, completing a pristine 71.9 percent of his passes for 338 passing yards while throwing two touchdowns to one pick. Darnold connected with seven different receivers, and even hit his deep ball threat in Robby Anderson for a 92-yard touchdown. Still, it is Crowder who Darnold has depended on the most through his two starts, as the chain-moving, short-area wide receiver that best plays to the second-year QB's strengths.

The best news for Crowder's fantasy football stock is that while the Jets have tough matchups in the next two weeks (against the New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars), the schedule opens up beautifully afterwards with games against the Miami Dolphins (twice), New York Giants, Washington Redskins, Oakland Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals.

If one of your league-mates is unimpressed with Crowder's season-long numbers and goose-egg in the touchdown column, now may be a great time to buy the receiver. Even with a difficult matchup on tap, Crowder cracks the WR3 tier, sitting 36th at the position in our Week 7 PPR fantasy football rankings.
