Joe Burrow's play has arguably been the biggest story of the 2019 college football season. While it may have taken an ankle injury to Tua Tagovailoa for Burrow to rise to the top of the Heisman Trophy race, the LSU quarterback is now the favorite with +170 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Burrow has been flat-out ridiculous this season. He ranks second in the NCAA in passing yards (2,484), despite having thrown 129 fewer passes than Washington State's Anthony Gordon, who leads the nation with 2,981. Burrow's 29 touchdowns are tied for tops in the country, and he's only thrown three picks.

He's been the driving force behind an LSU team that ranks second in the country with 50.1 points per game (PPG). Burrow's prolific performance has completely changed LSU's identity, as the Tigers hadn't averaged more than 32.4 PPG since head coach Ed Orgeron took over in 2016.

The only team with a higher-scoring offense than LSU this season, Oklahoma (50.4 PPG), boasts the player with the second-best odds to win the award. Jalen Hurts sits at +185, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, and has looked like a different player under head coach Lincoln Riley's tutelage.

After topping out with an average of 185.3 passing yards per game in a single season at Alabama, Hurts is now averaging 296.3 yards per contest through the air. He's thrown 20 touchdowns this season, just three shy of his career high, despite playing eight fewer games thus far.

As for the man who replaced Hurts at Alabama, Tua still sports the third-best odds to win the award at +360. Completing 74.7 percent of his passes for 309.4 yards per game while tossing 27 TDs to two interceptions, Tagovailoa could easily be back atop these odds once he returns from the ankle injury he suffered.

Rounding out the top five are Ohio State's Justin Fields at +1000 and Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor at +1900. Both both will have a chance to improve their odds when they play against one another in a top-25 battle in Week 9.
