Doug Pederson has officially parted ways with the Philadelphia Eagles after their relationship quickly unraveled. Pederson exits Philly with a Super Bowl ring, but he went out on a sour note after finishing this season just 4-11-1.
It looks like Pederson might rebound quickly. Shortly after being fired, he became the odds-on favorite to be the next head coach of the New York Jets, according to a FanDuel Sportsbook prop bet.
At +300, Pederson is the clear frontrunner, zooming past Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll (+600) and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy (+650), who were the opening favorites.
Pederson went 42-37 in his five seasons with the Eagles, making the playoffs in three straights years from 2017-2019. Philly failed to recapture their 2017 Super Bowl magic, though, going 9-7 in back-to-back years before this season's crash down the standings.
Pederson has helmed top offenses before, especially in his time as an offensive coordinator with the Chiefs, so he could help lift a hapless Jets offense that finished last in yards and points this season.
Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley (+650) and Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith (+850) round out the new top five in the odds to become the Jets' next head coach.
