As training camps across the NFL begin, the anticipation for the season continues to build. As if Las Vegas Raiders fans needed another reason to get excited, with the team getting a new stadium and and an electric rookie wide receiver, defensive lineman Arden Key recently gave a quote that will get fans fired up.
Despite disappointing early on in his NFL career, Key says "the sky is the limit for me." He also says that he will be doing things "the Arden Key way."
The Raiders drafted Key in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was a strong prospect coming from the LSU Tigers, where he earned First-Team All-SEC twice.
Key's recently optimism is a great sign, since his stats in the NFL have not been anything to write home about. He started 10 games as a rookie, totaling 30 tackles, four tackles for a loss, one sack and 11 quarterback hits. Unfortunately, he took a massive step backwards last season, failing to make a start in his seven games, totaling four tackles, two sacks and four quarterback hits.
Las Vegas would love to get more out of Key this season, especially on the pass rush. The Raiders averaged just 2.0 sacks per game last season (T-No. 25 in NFL). Key totaled 20 sacks during his three seasons for LSU. Playing in a division with a quarterback as good as Patrick Mahomes, a consistent pass rush is vital to the team's success in 2020.
