WNBA Best Bets

Connecticut Sun at Chicago Sky

Sky +7.0 (-108)

The Connecticut Sun and Chicago Sky face off at Wintrust Arena for the second time tonight. The Sun came out ahead, 86-82, on May 25th. While the Sky have since suffered several lopsided home Ls, they match up well enough with the Sun that they should be able to cover +7.0 in tonight's rematch.

Coming into tonight, Chicago had dropped three of their last four games, including two of three home matchups. Still, the Sky profile as a league-average team. They're 4-6 overall while ranking eighth in offensive rating, fifth in defensive rating, and sixth in total rebound rate.

The Sun suffered their first loss over the weekend, though their 10-1 record leads the league. They lead the league in defensive rating and rebound rate but sit fourth in offensive rating.

In their first matchup, the Sun won the rebounding battle 38-21. They scored 27 second chance points off 16 offensive rebounds, but they only outscored the Sky 40-34 in the paint.

Chicago was still without 6'7" rookie Kamilla Cardoso in that first matchup, although they did have the recently injured Elizabeth Williams active. She finished a team-best +2 and will miss tonight's contest.

But Cardoso played well in her first career start over the weekend, scoring 13 points and finishing a team-best +4. Her size could actually present an upgrade over Williams on the glass -- one the Sky needed in the first matchup.

Even with that rebound differential in the first matchup, the Sun never led by more than seven points. Granted they played much of the second half without Alyssa Thomas (ejection), but they trailed by seven at the half and were only up one when Thomas was forced to exit.

The Sky notably forced 20 turnovers in that first matchup -- something that can continue tonight. Chicago leads the league in steals and forced turnovers per game, while the Sun have a 17.7% turnover rate.

Expect Chicago's defense to wreak havoc again tonight, and that should be enough for them to cover +7.0. However, if the Sky can even things up on the glass, they could have a shot at winning outright, too. Sky moneyline is available at +250 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Marina Mabrey 2+ Made Threes (-136)

Sky guard Marina Mabrey has gone two straight games without making multiple three-pointers, and that's resulted in her odds for 2+ made threes to dip to -136. Considering she's still hit this prop in seven of 10 games overall, I'm happy to buy the dip and bank on a bounce-back effort.

While targeting opposing offensive props doesn't feel great against Connecticut's top-ranked defense, Mabrey's performance in their first matchup speaks for itself. She scored a season-high 23 points against the Sun last month, nailing 4-of-7 threes in the process.

For the season, Mabrey is averaging 2.5 threes per game on 37.3% shooting from beyond the arc. She's attempted at least four threes in every game this season.

That shot volume gives her a good shot of nailing multiple threes every time she takes the floor -- but especially so tonight against the Sun. Despite their strong defensive numbers, the Sun have quietly ceded the fourth-most three-point attempts to guards (13.5).

It's worth noting that FanDuel Sportsbook is offering customers a 30% Profit Boost to use on any WNBA game taking place from June 12th through June 13th. If you applied that 30% boost to this Marina Mabrey prop, the current -136 odds would come down to -105.

DeWanna Bonner to Record 6+ Rebounds (-120)

Sun wing DeWanna Bonner enters tonight's action averaging 5.6 rebounds per game. Though she's coming off a three-rebound effort in their blowout win over the Fever, a more competitive matchup against the Sky should lead to her recording at least six rebounds tonight.

Bonner has secured at least six rebounds in six of 11 games this season. That includes an eight-rebound performance in her previous date with the Sky.

Chicago has been a team to target for opposing rebound props. Though they're a respectable sixth in total rebound rate, their third-ranked pace has led to them surrendering the fourth-most raw rebounds per game.

As long as the Sky don't get blown out, DeWanna Bonner should be positioned to grab 6+ rebounds, available -120 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
