Atlantic 10 Tournament Best Bets

Dayton (+170)

The Dayton Flyers may only be the No. 3 seed in the Atlantic 10 tournament, but they're favored to win it at +170 odds. Dayton finished 14-4 in A-10 play with all four losses coming on the road.

The Flyers didn't quite live up to expectations as preseason favorites, but they still put together a tournament-worthy resume. Entering the conference tournament, Dayton is projected to be a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament, according to consensus projections at Bracket Matrix. They finished the regular season ranked 28th in KenPom's adjusted efficiency margin and 21st in the NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET), both the best marks among A-10 teams.

Dayton is led by Wooden Award finalist Daron Holmes II. A two-time All-League forward, Holmes led the conference with 21.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. He scored 25 points seven times in A-10 play and finished with nine double-doubles, twice as many as the next-closest player.

The Flyers finished with the conference's top net rating (+13.7), though they'll have to avenge some losses to cut down the nets on Sunday. The Flyers lost to both of the top two seeds in the regular season, most recently to Loyola Chicago (whom they'd face in the semifinals). Dayton will be seeking their first conference tournament title since 2003.

Richmond (+600)

The top-seeded Richmond Spiders have the second-shortest odds to win the Atlantic 10 tournament at +600. The Spiders shared the regular season title, finishing 15-3. Notably, Richmond defeated both Dayton and Loyola, so they've proven capable of beating the best the conference has to offer.

Richmond was the biggest surprise in the A-10 after they were picked to finish 11th in the preseason poll. Though they are currently projected to make the NCAA Tournament, the Spiders don't have much of an at-large case. Richmond finished 71st in the NET and 81st on KenPom, so a tournament championship is likely their only shot at the big dance.

The Spiders finished with the Atlantic 10's third-best net rating (+7.0) and ranked second in scoring defense. They had the conference's lowest turnover rate, led by the uber-efficient Jordan King. The fifth-year senior took the league by storm this season, finishing third in scoring (18.9 points per game) and tied for second in three-point shooting (2.8 per game; 45% 3P%).

Richmond is no stranger to cutting down the nets in Brooklyn. The Spiders won the Atlantic 10 tournament as the No. 6 seed two years ago. That said, a rematch with George Mason looms in their first game. Richmond defeated the Patriots earlier in the year but were blasted 64-46 in the regular season finale.

Loyola Chicago (+700)

After a middling first year in the conference, the Loyola Chicago Ramblers returned with vengeance in 2023-24. The Ramblers finished 15-3 in A-10 play, splitting the regular season title with Richmond and securing the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. Their +700 odds to win the Atlantic 10 tournament are tied for the third shortest.

Loyola was expected to make a leap in their second year in the A-10, though they finished 93rd on KenPom, 19 spots lower than their preseason ranking. Still, the Ramblers caught fire down the stretch and won 10 of their final 11 games.

Loyola finished with the conference's second-best net rating (+7.8). They led the A-10 in defensive rating and finished 24th nationally in KenPom's adjusted defensive efficiency metric. Even so, there doesn't seem to be a path for the Ramblers to make the NCAA Tournament as an at-large. Loyola closed out the regular season 84th in the NET.

The Ramblers will have a chance to avenge their most recent loss in the first game provided No. 7 St. Bonaventure advances. After that, they'd likely face Dayton -- a team they beat by five earlier this month. The Ramblers will be seeking their first Atlantic 10 tournament championship, though they won the Missouri Valley tournament in 2018, 2021 and 2022.
