The Washington Commanders used the 16th pick of the 2023 NFL Draft to select the second cornerback off the board: Mississippi State's Emmanuel Forbes.

He came off the board one pick before Oregon's Christian Gonzalez.

According to numberFire's expected points model, Washington boasted a top-five overall defense in 2022, including the top rush defense and the eight-best pass defense.

Their most likely position to select first in the draft was cornerback (+100), via FanDuel Sportsbook, too.
