Since 2001, 18 of 22 Super Bowl champions ranked 12th or better in point differential during the season prior to winning the championship. Put another way, huge turnarounds are not that common when it comes to immediate championships.
The list of teams in the top-12 in point differential this season includes the 49ers, Bills, Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, Bengals, Jaguars, Ravens, Lions, Patriots, Chargers, and Seahawks.
Teams just outside the top-12 with single-digit point differentials include the Packers, Dolphins, Vikings, and Giants.
Quarterback changes can obviously throw wrinkles into this list, so don't overlook that, but historical trends are good for these teams above.
