Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Dylan Cozens Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-104)

With a small two-game slate, let's keep things simple with a few shot props to get the week started.

We'll start with the Buffalo Sabres, who are very slight -102 road underdogs as they visit the Seattle Kraken. Both teams are still in the playoff race, which should give us a strong quality of back-and-forth action.

Since the start of March, the Kraken's defense has allowed 60.86 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 13th-worst in the league.

This leads me to Dylan Cozens, who is the center on the second forward line and the first power-play unit for the Sabres. He comes in with 29 shots on goal over his last 10 games, which has allowed him to go over this mark in six of the last 10 games.

The Sabres need every win they can get at this point in the season, putting the pressure on the offense to pile up the goals.

MacKenzie Weegar Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-114)

Next up, we'll turn to the Calgary Flames, who are also in desperate need of a win if they want a shot at the Wild Card.

The Flames lead today's slate with a 2.91 implied goal total against the Washington Capitals, pointing to a good level of expected production.

The Capitals come in struggling a bit on defense and since the start of March, they've allowed the ninth-most (62.68) Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

Mackenzie Weegar is the defender on the second pairing and the second power-play unit, putting him at over 22 minutes of ice time per game.

He's piled up 26 shots on goal in his last 10 games, giving us a solid level of consistency for this prop.
