Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Carter Verhaeghe Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+126)

The Florida Panthers will look to even up the Eastern Conference Finals in Game 4 against the New York Rangers tonight.

After two back-to-back losses in overtime, the Panthers will likely come out with their sticks on fire and pile up the chances early and often. We've seen the Panthers control the overall Shot Attempt volume in this series, with a 249 to 184 advantage in all situations.

That was most evident in Game 3, when the Panthers held a 108 to 43 Shot Attempt Advantage, which led to a 46-21 Shots on Goal discrepancy.

Carter Verhaeghe played a key part in that with a whopping seven shots on goal and another seven shots which missed the net. That's some noticeable volume and something we can look to capitalize on in the prop market.

Verhaeghe is averaging 3.9 shots on goal throughout the playoffs, while seeing time on the first forward line and the first power-play unit. That role and overall production should continue tonight when the Panthers look to avoid going down 3-1 in the series.

Aleksander Barkov Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-108)

From one player on the Panthers' top line to another, this time with Aleksander Barkov.

The Panthers' captain is as solid as you can imagine on their top line and is often the engine that drives their offense. Barkov shows up each and every game, which is evident on the scoresheet throughout the playoffs.

Everything mentioned above about the Panthers generating offensive chances remains true here, giving us a clear market to target.

Barkov has at least two shots on goal in 12 of their 14 games and has gone over this prop in six of those games. He's a model of consistency, which is exactly what Florida's offense needs -- bring the same level of shot production from the first three games of this series.
