Jayden Daniels goes second overall to Washington
The Washington Commanders selected former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels with the second overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.
What It Means
Daniels rocketed up draft boards throughout his Heisman-winning 2023 season, routinely making jaw-dropping plays for the Tigers' top-scoring offense.
The LSU star was far and away the most efficient passer in the NCAA in 2023 -- his 13.6 adjusted yards per pass attempt came in a full 2.4 yards higher than the next-best quarterback. He finished his final college campaign with 40 touchdowns and 3,812 passing yards while tossing just 4 interceptions.
Daniels is a true dual-threat quarterback with blazing speed. He led LSU in rushing last season with 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns on 135 carries (8.4 yards per tote). His legs give him the kind of upside that could turn him into a fantasy football stud at the next level.
The Commanders still have a long way to go after finishing the 2023 season at 4-13, but the addition of Daniels could be a major step in the right direction.
