Vikings' Jordan Addison looking ready to "step up" in 2024
The Athletic's Alec Lewis reports that second-year Minnesota Vikings receiver Jordan Addison looks "ready" to "step up" for the team in 2024.
What It Means
Lewis wrote that Addison "simply looks different than the rest of the wideouts" with teammate Justin Jefferson absent from voluntary OTAs. Addison could see extra work early in the year while teammate T.J. Hockenson recovers from the knee injury that ended his 2023 season, and Lewis believes Addison seems "ready to do so".
The former Biletnikoff award winner had a surprisingly strong debut NFL season is spite of the circumstances -- he had to compete for opportunities with Jefferson and Hockenson for much of the season, and dealt with poor quarterback play from backups Joshua Dobbs and Nick Mullens after Kirk Cousins' injury. He still finished the season with 70 receptions for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns.
While he could see a greater share of the team's opportunities in 2024, it's fair to question how much volume there will be with rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy being the likely Week 1 starter. The Vikings' offense could look different this year from what we've seen in previous seasons with Cousins under center.
