New York Jets Draft Iowa State EDGE Will McDonald IV 15th Overall

The New York Jets got a lot of love for their 2022 NFL Draft, and they kicked off the 2023 draft with edge rusher Will McDonald IV with the 15th overall pick.

According to the NFL Draft betting odds at FanDuel Sportsbook, McDonald IV was +4000 to be a top-10 pick as of Thursday morning.

McDonald IV played five years at Iowa State and played in 48 games over those five seasons.

He is nearly 24 years old, which always needs to be considered when evaluating talent, but the film scouts seem to love McDonald IV's tape, and that was enough to make him a top-15 pick.

He's on the smaller side but has a 98th-percentile broad jump.

The Jets are investing in a strength: they had the second-best adjusted pass defense in the NFL last season, according to numberFire's expected points model.

They were third in pressure rate, via Pro-Football-Reference, and in pass rush grade, via PFF.

The Jets' regular season win total number is set at 9.5 with -134 odds on the over, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.

Only five teams have shorter Super Bowl odds than the Jets (+1400).
