Update: Dereck Lively II (neck sprain) downgraded to out for Game 4 Tuesday
Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II (neck sprain) will not play in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday.
What It Means
Lively was initially listed as doubtful to suit up on Tuesday after suffering a neck sprain on Sunday, and has since been downgraded to out according to Chris Haynes of TNT. The rookie center had been playing 22.4 minutes a night off the bench for Dallas this postseason, meaning starting center Daniel Gafford could play heavier minutes than usual as the Mavericks work around Lively's absence. He played a playoff-high 28 minutes in Game 3 following Lively's early exit.
