NBA Props for Thursday: Best NBA Playoffs Player Prop Bets Today

Duncan Robinson Under 11.5 Points (-125)

Cavs at Pistons, 7:10 p.m. ET

Duncan Robinson - Points

Coming into the series, I thought Duncan Robinson may have trouble staying on the court defensively against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Well, that certainly wasn't the case in Game 1 as Robinson poured in 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting and played 28 minutes.

Despite that, I think there's a chance my initial concerns end up coming to fruition, which puts me on Robinson to go under 11.5 points in Game 2.

The Cavs' backcourt duo of James Harden and Donovan Mitchell are both nightmare matchups for Robinson. He matches up much better with Dean Wade or Max Strus when one of those two are on the court, but I expect Cleveland to hunt Robinson on switches and try to attack him with Harden and Mitchell.

The decision for the Detroit Pistons' coaching staff will be to determine whether the shooting Robinson gives them on the offensive end outweighs the issues he brings on defense.

In Game 1, Robinson was cooking early, making it nearly impossible for the Pistons -- a team without much three-point shooting -- to take him off the floor. But if Robinson isn't on fire from the get-go, I could see him playing fewer minutes tonight, and I'm willing to roll the dice on that with this under recommendation.

Luguentz Dort 2+ Made Threes (-136)

Lakers at Thunder, 9:40 p.m. ET

2+ Made Threes

I went to this prop on Tuesday, and Luguentz Dort delivered. I'm going back to the well until the market fully adjusts for Dort's recent increased three-point volume and efficiency.

Dort had a bad shooting year, making only 34.4% of his three-balls. It was likely a fluke output as Dort finished with three-point percentages of 41.2% and 39.4% the past two campaigns.

In these playoffs, he's shooting 37.0% from deep on 5.4 attempts per night, and Dort has hit multiple treys in four of five games. He's done that despite playing more than 25 minutes in just two of the five games as the Oklahoma City Thunder racked up lopsided wins in Round 1.

In Game 1, the Los Angeles Lakers doubled Shai Gilgeous-Alexander aggressively, forcing SGA to get off the ball to create a 4-on-3 situation for his teammates. That feeds right into Dort's hands and could be a boost to his three-point volume if LA continues to defend Shai that way -- which I'm guessing they will after they kept SGA to 18 points and the Thunder to a modest 108 points.

But Dort can nail at least two triples regardless of LA's defensive strategy, and this is my favorite player prop tonight.

NBA Player Prop Bets FAQ

What are NBA player prop bets?

NBA player prop bets are wagers on specific statistical outcomes for individual players during a game — independent of which team wins or loses. You might bet on how many points a star guard scores, whether a big man grabs 10 or more rebounds, or how many assists a point guard dishes out.

What types of NBA player props are available?

FanDuel offers an extensive menu of NBA props. The most common categories include:

  • Points — over/under on a player's scoring total
  • Rebounds — over/under on total boards (offensive + defensive)
  • Assists — over/under on dimes dished
  • Three-pointers made — over/under on made threes
  • Points + rebounds + assists (PRA) — combined stat total for those three stats
  • Double-double or triple-double — yes/no prop on achieving the milestone

How do NBA player prop odds work?

NBA props use the standard American (moneyline) odds format. A negative number indicates how much you must wager to profit $100, while a positive number shows the profit on a $100 bet.

  • -115 odds — bet $115 to win $100
  • +115 odds — bet $100 to win $115
  • -200 odds — bet $200 to win $100

What is a points prop bet in the NBA?

A points prop is a bet on whether a specific player will score over or under a set total. For example, a line might read: LeBron James — Points — Over 24.5 (-110).

Key factors to research before betting points props include the player's recent scoring form, the opposing team's defensive rating and points allowed to their position, pace of play, and how many minutes the player is likely to play.

What is a PRA prop bet for NBA?

PRA stands for Points + Rebounds + Assists — a combined stat prop that totals all three categories into one number. For example, a Nikola Jokic PRA line might be set at 49.5.

PRA props are popular for versatile players because their contributions span multiple statistical categories. They're less volatile than single-stat props since a slow scoring night can be offset by a strong rebounding or passing game.
