Jesus Luzardo (elbow) scratched Friday for Marlins
Miami Marlins pitcher Jesus Luzardo has been scratched from Friday's scheduled start against right-hander Trevor Williams and the Washington Nationals due to left elbow soreness.
What It Means
Luzardo will undergo further testing to determine if the left-hander is dealing with a significant injury. The Marlins called up Anthony Maldonado from Triple-A Jacksonville to open a bullpen game against the Nationals on Friday night.
Luzardo is averaging 21.2 FanDuel points through five starts, while recording a 6.58 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 24.1 strikeout percentage, and 11.6 walk percentage. His 4.67 xERA offers some hope for improvement, but Luzardo's strikeout and walk rates are both worse than last season.
