Braves' Ronald Acuna Jr. diagnosed with torn ACL, 2024 season over

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. tore his ACL Sunday afternoon, the team announced.

What It Means

Acuna left Sunday's contest with a non-contact injury while on the basepaths. While the reigning NL MVP said after the game he believed he suffered a left knee sprain, an MRI taken later in the day showed a full tear of the ACL. This is Acuna's second torn ACL, as he missed most of the 2021 season after injuring his right knee. He's one of the most valuable players in the sport, so Atlanta will struggle to replicate his production. While the team will likely look to the trade market at some point, it'll probably be Forrest Wall who's called up from Triple-A in the meantime.

Acuna, the consensus No. 1 pick in fantasy drafts this spring, finishes his season with a .250 batting average, a .716 OPS, 4 home runs, 38 runs, 15 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 222 plate appearances.
