Verdict

LUCULLAN (4) is a very talented gelding who mixed his form during the spring but did remind us of his ability when winning easily at Whanganui in November. He has won his only start on this track, which is an advantage, and he does come to hand quickly. Follow any positive market moves. LEGALLY BINDING (1) had an excuse fresh up at Matamata and was not knocked around in the run to the line. He will be better for that hit-out, and will drop 7lbs from that run thanks to a 4lbs claim. Stick with him. Can win. RABEGA (2) got back on a slow back at Tauherenikau last time out, and ran on too late for sixth. He has been given plenty of time to get over that run, and he can figure in the top 3 here. COUNTRY SALON (5) may not be strong enough to see out a middle distance and will be dropping back from 1 ¼m to 6f for this. If the track is heavy, he is not the worst top 4 chance. NEPHETI (3) needed her first run back from a spell, and she will be a lot sharper for this. Include.
